1. Dangers abound. So do opportunities.
A website designer recently told me that 85% of searches happen wirelessly. Consider this confirmation that most people depend on wireless access to phones, text messages and Wi-Fi; and most people do not know the dangers of wireless technologies and wireless infrastructure. Call this use and lack of awareness dangerous.
Now for an opportunity: The federal Access Board is receiving input about revising its rules around tech assistance for people with disabilities. The Access Board, a federal agency, regulates the Americans with Disabilities Act. For example, it requires curb-cuts so that people in wheelchairs have access to sidewalks. It ensures that deaf people have access to speech when they go to a movie via a computer-delivered sign language interpreter.
Earlier this month, I submitted a Comment to the Access Board that a)describes how EMR exposure impacts people with implants, children, workers and people with electro-hypersensitivity; and b)proposes policy solutions. Dr. Gary Olhoeft suggested many of these policy solutions.
Please read this Comment, which is backed by the EMR Policy Institute. If the Access Board implements any of these proposed policies, our entire country will receive a very fast education about the dangers of EMR exposure.
2. We need your participation:
We're collecting contact names and email addresses of people to notify about our proposed policies:
* in municipal disability rights offices;
* in state disability rights offices;
* school system disability reps;
* risk management people (who ensure safe environments) in schools;
* risk management people in workplaces;
* risk management people in hospitals;
* contractors unions;
* teachers unions;
* PTAs;
* physicians who work with medical implants;
* famous people who have implants, who might speak on behalf of
these proposed policies.
Once we assemble a mailing list, Janet Newton, president of the EMR Policy Institute, will email a notice about our proposed solutions for making areas of public accommodation more accessible to people who are disabled by EMR exposure,
Please note that your area may have public and/or private disability rights offices. If you reach someone by phone, ask who is the best person to email about new policies that we've proposed to the federal Access Board about EMR exposure from cell phones, antennas, Wi-Fi and "smart" meters.

3. How Eugene, Oregon prevented a new cell tower

4. I erred in my September announcement about Berkeley's Cell Phone Right to Know Act.
I erroneously stated that the Berkeley Right to Know Act will require SAR labeling on cell phones. It will not. Here's the correction:
Judge Edward Chen ruled that cell phone vendors in Berkeley, California will soon be required to provide customers with a safety warning--either by providing customers with a handout or by posting a notice in the store that states: To assure safety, the Federal Government requires that cell phones need radio frequency (RF) exposure guidelines. If you carry or use your phone in a pants or shirt pocket or tucked into a bra when the phone is ON and connected to a wireless network, you may exceed the federal guidelines for exposure to RF radiation. Refer to the instructions in your phone or user manual for information about how to use your phone safely.
